I came for Game of Thrones and left knowing this place has a history worth far more than any TV show. Our guide explained 1,000 years of Berber history on those walls — the filming connection was a footnote. The drive over Tizi n'Tichka both ways is worth the trip on its own.

Atlas Studios was an unexpected highlight — massive outdoor sets where Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were shot, still in use today. Ait Benhaddou in the late afternoon light with almost no other visitors was genuinely breathtaking. Long day but completely worth every hour.

The Tizi n'Tichka mountain road alone is worth the trip. Ait Benhaddou is every bit as dramatic as the photos suggest. Our guide's historical knowledge was impressive — this is a living UNESCO heritage site, not just a film set. Came back having learned things I didn't expect to.
